Chicken Soup - Recipe 16

This weeks recipe was one of my photo's I took in Rome last year, while on our first cruise on Destiny. It was in one of the little streets somewhere near Piazza Navona. I took the photo because I liked the shapes and colours of the sign and the wall and the distressed look, and I had a mind to use it for inspiration for something - and so when I came across it when looking for a different photo from that weeks holiday I realised it would be ideal for a recipe!

I used the vintage feel, the grungy colours and the delicate scroll shapes as my inspiration for this card:

I used Soft Suede cardstock and stamped the background in Basic Black ink. I then used Whisper White craft ink to stamp the punched shape and the flourish under the ribbon. With a piece of cut and dry foam I applied Basic Black ink to the edges of the panel and also the punched 'sign' before stamping onto it with the White ink. I punched a decorative edge strip from Crumb Cake cardstock and tucked it behind the main panel at the top and bottom, and added a small piece of Very Vanilla taffeta ribbon and a clear button - stamped with Stazon and tied with a little linen thread.

The punch is a brand new to the uk from the new Stampin' Up! catalogue released on 1st October and I can see it's going to be one of my favourites! I used it with a stamp that was made for it from one of the limited edition 2010 Sale-a-bration stamp sets.
